About this event

Is Scotland different? The 2021 Census shows that almost 20% of residents of England and Wales identify as not White, and while smaller, the Scottish population that does not choose the White Census category has also grown significantly since 2011. In this talk Professor Maria Sobolewska provides a much-needed empirical update to studies of vote choice and representation of people of colour in the UK and proposes novel theoretical explanations of how race continues to shape our politics. Throughout she explores how, if at all, Scotland might be different.
