Welcome

- [Instructor] Hi, I'm Joe Marini, and welcome to Visual Studio Code for Web Developers. In this course, I'm going to show you how to use Visual Studio Code, a powerful extensible and free code editor for Microsoft that works on Windows, Mac, and yes, even Linux. As a developer, you know that one of the most important tools you can have in your collection is a great code editor. VS Code specifically focuses on being a great editor, and doesn't try to be everything to everyone, out of the box. We'll start with the basics, getting familiar with the app's user interface, and using the editor to perform common coding functions, like using IntelliSense, and formatting code. Then, we'll learn about some of the ways you can customize the application, by changing the various preferences that are available, and seeing how to set your own keyboard shortcuts. We'll also see how to find, install, and manage extensions from the Visual Studio marketplace, so you can maximize your productivity, and work the way you want to work. Finally, we'll see some of the more advanced editing features, like multiple selections, and language services for working with web codes such as HTML, Java Script, JSON, and CSS. Visual Studio Code is a great editing tool for anyone who has to write code for a living, especially web developers. Let's get started.
