In March 2024 we're having a focus on Creative & Cultural Careers. Get insight and inspiration on working in the creative & cultural sector by attending the fantastic range of events we've arranged between 13 and 22 March, all of which aim to help you discover more about a variety of creative & cultural career paths.

We hope engaging with what we are offering will increase your awareness of creative and cultural careers and give you exposure to the creative industries, helping you to Discover What’s Out There. Wednesday 13 March |
12:00 - Careers & Coffee with the BBC The BBC are coming onto campus! Come and meet them in the Main Library Foyer and pick their brains about their range of exciting opportunities. 13:10 - Finding work as an employee in the Creative Industries Want to work in the Creative Industries but don't think you want to be a freelancer? Join this online session for some general hints and tips from Careers Service staff on entry level roles in the sector. Find out more and book your place on MyCareerHub 18:10 - Meet People Working in Publishing Come along to this in-person event to meet and chat to around 10 industry contacts who have taken a range of different career paths towards working in publishing. Attend early to hear speaker introductions from the likes of Publishing Scotland, the Skinny, Storm Publishing and more. |

13:00 - Freelancer's Workshop - Part 1 (Part 2 on Thursday 21 March) Interested in Freelancing? Edinburgh Innovations are hosting this two-part series to help you explore the possibility of becoming a freelancer, or accelerate your already-established freelancing journey. Find out more and book your place via MyCareerHub 13:10 - Careers in Culture and Heritage Q&A Want to work in Culture and Heritage? Join this online drop-in session with Careers Service staff to ask your questions about working in the sector. Find out more and book your place on MyCareerHub 15:10 - Meet People Working in Festivals & Events Come along to this in-person event to meet and chat to recruiting organisations and contacts who have taken a range of different career paths towards producing festivals, events and theatres. Attend early to hear speaker introductions from the likes of the Edinburgh Fringe Society, Assembly Theatre, the International Festival, Capital Theatres and more. |

13:10 - Marketing Opportunities in Creative Companies: Industry Insights & Advice Did you know that creative companies need marketing, communications and promotional skills? Come to this in-person panel and hear from 4 different companies on what skills they are looking for, the type of roles they look to fill, and how you get into these jobs in the most exciting sector in Scotland. |

13:10 - Bouncing Back: How to move forward when things don’t go as planned Resilience is an important skill in all career paths, but especially so in popular and often competitive sectors like creative & cultural ones. Join this online session for tips from Careers Service staff to help recognise how you cope with setbacks and learn about personal control. Find out more and book your place on MyCareerHub 18:10 - Working in Music: Industry Insights and Advice Interested in working in music? Come and hear from our in-person panel of talented music professionals with a range of experiences – from radio producing to film composition to jazz performance and more. They'll discuss their personal journeys working in music and their professional lives since graduating. |

13:10 - Focus on Creative CVs Join this online session to understand the differences between creative and traditional CVs and decide what works best for your job search. Careers Service staff will teach you how to structure your creative CV and provide tips on how to make a creative CV work for you. |
