We’ve brought together a panel of researchers from Edinburgh and Glasgow to explore subjects from Mary Queen of Scots to Robert Adam, and mediums including sculpture, relics, and portrait miniatures. Together the panel will cover a range of themes on how deceased people were rememebred in the past. Hosted on Zoom, 4.00-5:30pm (Edinburgh).

Speakers include:

Dr Sydney Ayers (IASH)

Dr Anna Groundwater (National Museums Scotland)

Dr Steven Reid (University of Glasgow)

Georgia Vullinghs (University of Edinburgh)

Dr Jolene Zigarovich (University of Northern Iowa & IASH)

Chair: Anna Myers (University of Edinburgh)

In collaboration with the Institue for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, Edinburgh (IASH)

Comprising scholars from a variety of fields and geographical specialisations, the cluster aims to foster interdisciplinary approaches to the study of materiality. In particular, we are interested in the myriad relationships between people and things, interrogating issues of making, consumption, exchange and agency.
